The PDF Download block provides an easy way of displaying a link to a PDF file along with a thumbnail image of the PDF’s front page (this requires that your web hosting includes Imagick, a php module WordPress uses for generating images from PDFs).
The block will use the Title, Caption and Description for the PDF as entered during file upload or by editing the PDF in the Media Library. (The Caption is only used as the Alt value for the PDF image – if empty the Title will be used.)
The Title (and thumbnail, if available) will link to the PDF. In addition, buttons can be added for View PDF and / or Download.
View PDF will open the PDF in the visitor’s web browser, while Download will download the pdf direct to their computer.
The height of the PDF thumbnail will be that in your site settings, up to a maximum 250 pixels.
